Cartoon Network is a globally adored brand that has worked with Syn on several memorable projects, including the network’s Sonic Identity. The brief challenged us to create something truly unique, unexpected and different.
After exploring many different creative approaches to this assignment, the direction that added the right definition and style used processed pitch bent guitar and bass layers, created by Alan Mawdsley in Tokyo and energetic drum rolls played by L.A. based drummer Randy Cooke, to realize an unexpected and exciting sonic signature.
A highlight of the experience had Cartoon Network’s ‘Musician In Residence’ – 12-year old drummer phenomenon Nandi Bushell – performing a cover of this identity as part of the promotional campaign.
