Syn is proud to have created the sonic identity for CNN+, creating sonic branding for the CNN+ Hero, as well as the CNN+ Original Series visual intro. CNN+ , the network’s subscription service, was positioned to host “award-winning journalists, personalities you love and world-class storytellers.”
The iconic brand wanted a new sonic approach for the CNN+ sonic identity, exploring a more abstract and sound design-based approach than previous brand expressions. Composer Alan Mawdsley used a combination of analog and granular synthesizers to create complex textures, blending organic drum sounds to give a sense of acoustic instrumentation, whilst ensuring that the brand’s three emblematic notes rang true at the end of the sonic identity to see the sound signature home.
